He received his dental degree from the University of Michigan. Upon graduating from dental school, Dr. Shahnam elected to serve his country for 5 years as a US Air Force officer. During this time, he obtained additional dental training by completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, DC. After leaving the Air Force, he made the decision to continue his dental education by attending the University of Washington for his orthodontic residency.
Dr. Shahnam is passionate about improving oral health and sharing smiles with patients from all backgrounds and walks of life. During his time at the University of Michigan, he co-founded “Victors for Veterans”, a program that provides free dental care to veterans. To this day, it is still the most successful outreach program in the school’s history. Dr. Shahnam also serves his patients and profession by sitting on the Board of Directors for the Washington State Society of Orthodontists.
After having lived and worked all across the US and Europe, Dr. Shahnam has found home in the Pacific Northwest. He likes to spend his free time skiing, snowboarding, hiking, backpacking, and playing soccer.
